Best Meditation Devices 2019
What is the best meditation device for 2019?
There are lots of excellent new tools for meditators, including:
- Meditation apps
- Meditation head-bands (see below)
- Therapy systems
- Meditation pods
- Wearable tech with meditations
- Home décor devices like meditation lamps
- And of course the classics like Tibetan Singing Bowls
As a meditation teacher, many people ask me about the efficacy of these meditation gadgets. So I will share my thoughts in this post.
So, what are the very best meditation gadgets and devices for 2019? Let’s take a look.
7 Best Meditation Devices, Gadgets And Oddities
1. Kasina Deep Vision Bundle ($$$)
Kasina is one of the most unique meditation devices I’ve seen. The name itself, “Kasina”, refers to a type of visualization meditation used in Theravada Buddhism. And this meditation gadget works in a similar way to those traditional meditations: it focuses the mind on visualizations.
To use Kasina you sit comfortably, choose one of the devices meditation sessions, and then focus on the visions and sounds the machine makes.
The Kasina meditation devices offers various sessions including:
- focus energy
- night voyage
- and mind-art.
There are 70+ sessions and you can also create your own.
My Kasina Meditation Review
Kasina is definitely one of the best meditation devices I’ve seen. And it is very reasonably priced compare to similar products—many of which are more expensive and have less features.
Although I would not advise using this as a replacement for traditional meditation it can definitely completement your practice. It is soothing and relaxing and does help when you’re trying to focus the mind.
2. MUSE 2—High Tech Meditation Headband ($$$$)
Muse 2 is a brain-sensing headband.
Sound impressive. Just one question: What is a brain-sensing headband, exactly?
The manufacturer describes it this way:
“Muse helps make meditation easy, tangible, and enjoyable to learn by offering a simple and accessible ‘work out plan’ for your meditation practice, with incredible insights into your inner world. Muse 2 offers all the same meditation tracking and brain sensing features as the original Muse, but now with so much more!”
My Mini Muse 2 Review:
Muse 2 is definitely one of the best meditation devices. It provides you with insights into your meditation practice, and this can help you to progress and to go further in meditation.
My one concern is that tech like this detracts from the actual meditation part. It can be pretty distracting having a piece of technology on your head. And you might be more interested in the tech thn in actually meditating.
That said, if you can wear Muse 2 comfortably without being distracted by it, then sure, go for it. The information relay you get from Muse 2 is truly fascinating and it can help you to progress in meditation.
3. NOW Tone Therapy System ($)
Now Tone Therapy System is basically two speakers that play a relaxing and ever-changing sound. The idea is that you listen to the sound and it relaxes your mind. Simple. The sound then fades, bringing you back to the present moment.
The manufacturer recommends using N.O.W twice a day per three minutes. And a big part of their marketing is that this system relaxes you very quickly.
My Tone Therapy System Review
A lot of people have commented on how this tone therapy system relaxes the mind and can help with problems like anxiety. They quickly centre and relax us. And they are ideal for busy people who don’t have 20 minutes a day to meditate.
No doubt these are relaxing. They are also limited though. They call themselves an aid to spiritual awakening. But in reality they are simply relaxing sounds. So grab them if you want to relax, just don’t believe the hype about them awakening you, and definitely do not use these to replace your proper meditation practice.
4. Bose Noise-Masking Sleep Buds ($$$$)
Are you trying to use meditation to get to sleep at night?
If so, I have two option for you. Firstly, read that link above or a great guide to meditating yourself to sleep.
And secondly, try Bose Noise Masking Sleepbuds.
Okay, they are more a product for sleep than for meditation, but you can actually use them for both.
The Bose Noise Masking Sleepbuds have two main functions: 1) they cancel out background noise, and 2) they play relaxing sounds.
Both of these functions are great for both meditation and sleep. You can cancel out background noise to help you focus when you meditate. And you can meditate on the relaxing sounds that the buds make. Perfect!
My Mini Bose Noise-Masking Sleepbuds Review
Obviously when you buy a Bose product you’re getting high-quality sound. And these sleep buds are no different.
By cancelling background noise, the sleep-buds can help you focus when you meditate. And you ca meditate on the relaxing sounds that are pre-packaged with the sleep-buds.
Being Bose, this product is not cheap. Bose are almost always expensive. But they are always high quality too.
5. 3D Illusion Lamp ($$)
The 3D Illusion Lamp is basically a night light in the shape of a person meditating.
The lamp is beautifully designed and relaxing. Its soft edges and tranquil colours are soothing to the eye. And it makes a great night light for kids.
My 3D Illusion Lamp Review
If you can get past the embarrassingly bad spelling and grammar on this product’s description page (see the link above) you will find a wonderful and charming meditation gadget that is decorative and relaxing.
The 3D Illusion Lamp is art and technology combined. And it makes for a really cool decorative piece to put in your meditation room.
While it doesn’t serve any real purpose in your meditation practice, it does look great!
6. SkyLite ($$)
SkyLite is basically a light projector that projects the night sky onto your ceiling.
This is a really relaxing meditation gadget that is perfect for nighttime. If you don’t feel like going deep in a proper meditation, just lie down and gaze up at the stars. The soothing blue light will relax you and help you drift off.
The SkyLite features simple button controls you can use to cycle through lighting effect and adjust the brightness of sky / ceiling.
My Skylite Review
If you struggle to sleep, lighting may help you to unwind.
SkyLite’s lighting is very relaxing and perfect for quieting the mind and helping you to relax.
It’s really easy to use too, and you are able to adjust the brightness and colours to find the perfect lighting for you.
Is you want to use it during meditation, set the lighting to a relaxing dim blue and focus on your breath for 10 minutes.
7. Sacred Geometry Tool ($$$)
The Sacred Geometry Tool Is essentially a plate that lights up telling you various positions to put your fingers in. The idea of the Sacred Geometry Tool us that it filters out noise and helps to put you in a meditative state.
The Sacred Geometry Tool comes with a 52 page instruction booklet explaining how it works. Supposedly it uses bio-electricity to awaken you (obviously that’s B.S, but still, this is a fun product).
How I Feel About Sacred Geometry Tool As A Meditation Teacher
This is one of those items that looks cool and is relaxing, but which is so laden with hyperbole its almost makes you choke.
The product description page promises that this tool will basically make you a spiritually enlightened guru and remove all mental health problems (seriously, take a look at the product page via the link above. The amount of promises this product makes is unreal). I actually hate how manufacturers treat spiritalists like idiots. And let’s be real, only an idiot would think that this plastic plate would cause a spiritual awakening.
So why have I put it in this list? Because even though it’s not going to make you a guru, it is cool and fun and relaxing.
And Those Are The Best Meditation Devices For 2019
Above we’ve looked at the best meditation devices for 2019. And oh boy what a collection of different oddities there are.
Now just a word of warning about the meditation gadgets: Not a single one of them is fit to actually replace meditation. Devices are not the same thing as actual meditation.
Yes, they are fun and helpful and some are genuinely beneficial for mental health, but only meditation is meditation. It is only by controlling your own mind that you truly learn to master that mind. Making it easier is like asking someone to help you lift weights at the gym. Sure, it’s easier to get the results, but you’re not getting the same level of training.
While these meditation gadgets are helpful, they are not replacements for actual meditation.
