The Best Spiritual Books Of 2018: Your Best Meditation
What is the best spiritual book of 2018?
It’s Your Best Meditation:
In this one amazing book you will learn more than 30 meditation techniques to change your life.
And you will learn how to meditate properly.
It’s an amazing book.
But then I would say that: I wrote it.
Now let’s take a look at the other best spiritual books of 2018.
7 Best Spiritual Books For 2018
1. Boundless Awareness (Michael A Rodriguez)
Michael Rodriguez is a non-dual coach.
Nonduality is a developed state of mind in which we transcend the I / Other mentality.
This state, which will be familiar to anyone interested in Buddhism, is a more enlightened state of mind. It’s a way of living that produces deep happiness and inter-connectedness.
In Boundless Awareness, Rodriquez uses modern-day exercise to teach readers to transcend to non-duality. This, the book’s description states, “helps readers to view suffering as a universal human condition that can lead to spiritual awakening.”
This is one of the best spiritual books to read in 2018. And the writing should be top-notch too.
As well as being a non-dual coach, Rodriguez has a wealth of qualifications in writing including a PhD in English literature from Florida State University).
Rodriguez’ experience (both in spiritual life coaching and literature) promises a great deal.
2. The Dharma Of Modern Mindfulness (Beth Ann Mulligan)
If you are interested in learning Dharma (the Buddhist code) and applying it to contemporary life, The Dharma Of Modern Mindfulness will be your best spiritual book to read in 2018.
This one is written by Beth Ann Mulligan.
Mulligan is graduated magna cum laude from the Duke University School of Medicine Physician Assistant program. She is a certified mindfulness based stress reduction teacher and international teacher-trainer at the University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Mindfulness.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction is a mindfulness-based healing program that helps people to cope with pain and with challenging life circumstances.
In The Dharma of Modern Mindfulness, Mulligan teaches the fundamentals of MSRB and Buddhist dharma.
The book “follows the structure of an eight-week MBSR class, paralleling the participant’s journey with that of the Buddha for the alleviation of suffering.”
A combination of guided reflections and real-life examples illustrate how to use Buddhism and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction in everyday life.
3. Mindful Dreaming (Clare Johnson)
Mindful Dreaming is definitely one of the best spiritual books to read in 2018.
In this book, Clare Johnson teaches how to find happiness and health by using dreams.
Clare Johnson is a leading expert in lucid dreaming and has a PhD from the University of Leeds on using lucid dreams as a creative tool. She is the Board Director of the International Association for the Study of Dreams, the biggest dream organisation in the world.
In mindful Dreaming, Johnson reveals the link between the creative process and lucid dreaming, trying it all together with the Buddhist meditations like mindfulness.
Mindful Dreaming is a practical how-to guide that shows how we can learn from our dreams and how we can guide our dreams in order to lead healthier, happier, more mindful and fulfilling lives.
4. The Bhakti Coloring Book (Ekabhumi Charles Ellik)
Ekabhumi Charles Ellik is a yogi, poet, artist, instructor, and dreamer. Interesting fact: his name, “Eka Bhumi”, means “One Earth” in Sanskrit. (visit EkaBhumi for more on his work).
If you love being creative, this will probably be your best spiritual book to read in 2018.
In The Bhakti Colouring Book, Ekabhumi shares 40 images of Hindu deities and traditional Indian decorative patterns, along with descriptions and instructions for meditating on them.
Bhakti means “attachment, participation, fondness for, homage, faith, love, devotion, worship, piety”. It is a devotional practice. (read our guide on Bhakti meditation to learn more).
Given that there has been comparatively few Bhakti books, I’m personally excited to see what Ekabhumi delivers with The Bhakti Colouring Book.
5. Dancing with Cancer (Judy Erel)
With the saddening statistics about cancer, it is no surprise that every year many different books on cancer are published. 2018 is no exception.
One of the best spiritual books this year is Judy Erel’s Dancing With Cancer, a work the promises to be as personal as it is transformational.
In Dancing With Cancer, Erel reveals insights and tips designed to help people stay positive in the negative times—maintaining a positive mindset while living with cancer. Erel shares a combination of Thought Work, meditations, and inspiration.
The book covers mindful breathing, gratitude, meditations, and the use of mandalas all aimed at helping readers to stay positive.
6. Mandalas to Embroider (Carina Envoldsen-Harris)
Anyone who loves spiritual embroidery will love Mandalas To Embroider by Carina Envoldsen Harris.
Harris is a Danish designer, blogger and author who blogs at Carina’s Craftblog. Carina has been published in a wealth of magazines like Cross Stitcher and Australian Homespun, and already has two books on the market.
Harris’ third book, Mandalas To Embroider will be published in 2018. It features “12 large and 12 small beautiful, meditative mandalas to embroider–and only 10 stitches to learn”.
Did you know that embroidery can be used for meditation? The slow, rhythmic stitching soothes and relaxed the mind to create tranquility.
If you love finding your Zen while doing some stitching, definitely check-out Mandalas To Embroider.
7. May Cause Happiness (David Steindl-Rast)
David Steindl-Rast is a Benedictine monk famous for his TED presentation Want To Be Happy? Be Grateful, which achieved 6 million views on TED.
His new book, May Cause Happiness, promises to inspire gratitude, in turn producing heightened levels of happiness. And if it is anywhere near as good as his TED presentation, it will definitely be one of the best spiritual books to read in 2018.
May Cause Happiness is full of “visually inspiring pages that invite us to spark our own thankfulness when feeling weary or numb, transform our “dismissible” moments into fresh delights, dance with both the light and dark we encounter, and merge with the stream of the natural world.”
May Cause Happiness promises to be one of the most inspiring non-fiction books of 2018
While you’re waiting for the book, take a look at Rast’s inspiring TED presentation, below.
