Dawaran Music Festival is happening next weekend, February 20 to 22, and bringing yoga, meditation and a whole ton of music.

If you love the Burning Man Festival and similar events you should definitely consider checking out Dawaran, which takes place in the Emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah: a serene emirate that is perfect destination for your wanderlust, with its diverse landscapes and stunning views.

The two-day line up includes events for yoga, meditation, and wellness, and of course tons of food pop-ups and electronic music performances.

Dawaran started out in April of 2019 and moved to the RAK desert last year, a short 30 minute drive from the emirates airport.  It’s a home-grown music festival that is similar in ethos to the ever popular Burning Man in Nevada.  The line-up of artists includes Egyptian EDM artist Youssef Abouzeid, Lithuanian DJ Manfredas, Dubai DJ Shadi Megallaa and Jordanian techno artist Ayn

The event I’m personally most excited to see is the “Zen Den”, which features installations from local artists along with meditation and yoga classes, a “relaxation station” and sound healing.

For those who really want to go in style and make the most of the adventure, there are glamping accommodations available. These take place in treehouse-style rooms but apparently have already sold out.  There’s also a Happy Camper option that provides a two-person tent with all the bedding you need.

I’m excited to see what Dawaran bring to the table. We are witnessing the steady rise of events like burning man and the burgeoning popularity of meditation retreats, yoga retreats and similar spiritual-holidays. Will Dawaran be the next big thing? We will have to wait and see.
