Why the Buddha’s Life Is As Relevant Now As It Was 2500 Years Ago

The fascinating PBS documentary about Buddha Siddhartha Gautama, below, left me one thought: has the life of the Buddha ever been more relevant than it is today?

Let’s face it, we live in a disturbing world at the moment. Politicians are taking paid vacations during an economic crisis that is their responsibility to solve. The world is obsessed with celebrities who are out merely for their own end. Millions are on wellfare, taking advantage of the system.

Buddha, above all else, taught us about mutual responsibility. Would the Buddha have taken a vacation from the senate right now? Uhhh, no.

Well, he may have sat beneath a tree meditating, but only in the interest of spreading inner peace.

The world needs to remember the lessons of the Buddha. The world needs to be reminded of what is to take responsibility for life and to place the needs of others above the needs of oneself.

Please help share this amazing Buddha documentary. Maybe together we can share a reminder of what matter in life, through the amazing life of the Buddha.

The life of the Buddha: More relevant now than ever
