Paul has fifteen years’ experience in mindfulness and meditation. What happens when I sign up for an online meditation class?

The process for signing up is incredibly simple, and if you have any questions you can always contact me.

You simply complete the booking form. Then submit your payment. You will receive an email saying that your private online meditation session is being scheduled. You will then receive a confirmation email. After that, your online meditation teacher contacts you with the ZOOM info. And you’re good to go! Simple.

 

How are your online meditation classes better than using an app?

Naturally if you want to use a meditation app there are plenty of choices like Headspace, Calm and Insight Timer. However, these mindfulness apps simply do not offer the same experience as a private online meditation session. Perhaps this is best understood by looking at how my online meditation classes work. I start by discussing your current situation. We discuss your lifestyle, what’s going on in your mind, and your emotions. And I listen like a best friend. Then, I use my knowledge of meditation to determine precisely the best type of meditation for you. I teach more than 30 traditional styles of meditation, and these go far beyond “guided meditations”. Then I give you precise instructions for meditating, including your posture. When you start mediating, I watch your breathing so I can do breathwork with you. I ask occasional questions about what is happening in your mind, and I give you personalised guidance to lead you towards inner peace. It’s a level of connection you simply cannot get from a guided meditation app.

Remember that meditation is about more than just breathing. It’s a form of therapy and of counseling. As Jon Kabat-Zinn [creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School] and Dan Siegel [a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine and executive director of the Mindsight Institute] have said, mindfulness is a powerful form of counseling. But Jon Kabat Zinn also defines meditation apps as “McMindfulness”—they are a watered down version of true meditation. You need the real deal. Private online meditation classes are the best way to go.

 

What are the main benefits of online meditation classes?

For starters, you get all the benefits of traditional meditation. Because meditation reduces amygdala activity, increases parasympathetic nervous system activity [1], and balances chemicals like cortisol, it is excellent for relaxation, stress relief, and anxiety relief, but it goes much further. There are over 100 proven benefits of meditation.

The main benefit of a private online meditation class is that I guide you through the process. I help you to understand what is happening in your mind. I help you find the right meditation technique, and I teach it to you in-person, so you have a powerful tool to heal your mind.

 

What types of meditation do you teach?

I am trained in more than 30 types of meditation, ranging from Mindfulness Meditation to Chakra Meditations and beyond. I generally find that for the majority of students certain methods work best, namely Anapanasati (mindful breathing), Vipassana (insight), Samatha (calm abiding), and mindfulness. However, I always listen to my students to determine what is best for them, and then I choose the absolute best meditation technique to teach them.

 

Should I take an online meditation course or private lesson?

There are certainly some excellent online meditation courses you can attend by places like Yoga International and Tara Brach. However, bear in mind that these online meditation courses are pre-recorded. You’re really just watching videos. Again, this simply is not the same experience as having a private online meditation teacher. As an instructor I sit with you during your meditation, I listen to you and advise you. It’s the difference between having a teacher who is actually there with you, and just watching a bunch of pre-recorded lectures. Which do you think is better?    

 

How much do online meditation teachers charge?

Depending on the level of experience and the notoriety of the teacher you will find online meditation teachers at various prices. The going rate is around $35 for half an hour, $50 for 45-minutes, and $60 for an hour.
