Spiritual Awakening is also a core part of many other spectral systems. It is generally described as awakening from the delusion of separation, and achieving oneness.
There are many different paths to spiritual awakening, including meditation and yoga.

Today on the daily meditation, we’ll be discussing spiritual awakening with our special guest Amy Dean from 1-awakening.com. Hi, Amy. How are you doing today?
Amie Dean
Hello I’m doing very well. Thank you and I’m very excited to be here.
Paul Harrison
Well, thank you for joining us. So Amy, you’re an expert in spiritual awakening, correct?
Amie Dean
Yes, you know what that is a good way of putting it. I would say that I am always a student in spiritual awakening, but that I have a lot to share and a lot to teach on the subject. And so yes, I will absolutely go with expert on that.
Paul Harrison
So spiritual awakening is definitely a very hot topic at the moment, but for our listeners who perhaps are not accustomed to the concept, could you just describe exactly what spiritual awakening is?
Amie Dean
Yes, absolutely. So spiritual awakening is really when we breakdown the confines of our mind and our identity as to who we think we are and through the spiritual awakening process we become who we really are and quite simply, what that looks like it’s, you know, it’s something like going from. Understanding yourself as an ego, mind and thinking that you are a separate person with a separate identity and you have this separate life, you know from everyone else. To realizing there is this true connection of unity with all others and it can be profound. You know, for some, and it can be really subtle and more of a background sense of of a connection for others, but ultimately spiritual awakening is just coming back home to who we really are. It’s not necessarily an altered. State it’s more of an understanding that we’re already the love and the peace and the joy that we’re seeking and that we’re uncovering that through the awakening.
Paul Harrison
Hmm, I like the the sound of the coming back home part. So when we’re talking about spiritual awakening, would you say for their health benefits to that or is it more of a other benefits, more of general happiness and well-being? Well, what are the main benefits of it?
Amie Dean
Oh yeah, that’s a great question. I would say that there are absolutely health benefits to going through the spiritual awakening process and and also, you know, just to note on that, you know, sometimes going through the process can be also distressing on the body and distressing on the mind. Because it’s not an. Easy process per se. Often you know we’re. Having to let. Go of old beliefs and old understandings and identities as to who we are, and it can be rather challenging, you know, for a. Lot of people. But they’re, you know, in the end, you know, result of this. For many, there is the health benefits of just feeling more in tune. With your body feeling more calm and relaxed, it often alleviates anxiety, depression and also you know can help improve physical health on all. Levels and of course you know my my perspective is that it’s all connected, right, mind body spirit. So as the mind is healing then it’s also healing the body on that level. But sometimes you know we have to go through a bit of an upheaval first and sometimes there can be some ascension symptoms which I call sometimes this, you know, this idea that we’re. Sometimes going to feel worse before we get better.
Paul Harrison
Yeah. So I’m really interested. Obviously there’s not too many people who would be called a spiritual awakening expert. What exactly is your story? How? How did you get into becoming a spiritual awakening expert?
Amie Dean
Yes, thank you for asking that. So my story has gone with, well, we’ll say from the very beginning. I you know grew up in a family where I had to struggle with just dealing with a lot of trauma. And, you know, childhood trauma and then moving into an understanding of. You know that I have a lot of. Anxiety and I’ve grew up as an empath as. Well, so I had. To, you know, just kind of sort through what does it mean to be an M path? How do we work through this anxiety and not really having the outlet or the understanding for that over time. It did lead me to become a counselor, which is what I do now as a a clinically certified trauma counselor. And I’m also an Ascension coach. But through this process, what has happened is I became really interested in. And they really became interested in discovering why trauma makes such a big impact on us as human beings, because there’s, you know, we can go into. A state of. PTSD from trauma. We can go on the other end of it, which is, you know, more of a post traumatic growth experience. And all of these different things, right. Determine our level of happiness in our daily lives. And since almost 90% of people struggle with trauma and that’s a large percentage of our population, so I. Was just really. Curious about that for myself, right? My unhealed trauma and I was really curious about, you know, what this, how it connected with spiritual awakening. And my discovery was that our traumas are the ones that really help us just learn who we really are. We have to go through these hardships and these struggles sometimes in order to discover the peace and the joy that’s waiting for us within our heart. And for me, that was my situation as well. That was my personal experience, which was I needed to heal. Trauma that was going on inside me and a lot. Of that was. Related to grief and it also went through a series of medical traumas and all of these different things helped me recognize that I’m not this limited human like I thought I was. I would have these. Profound experiences of joy out of nowhere, in the midst of extreme pain and extreme suffering. And I started to get really, really curious about that. And it led me to want to become certified as a trauma counselor and to work with people in ascending to their true nature.
Paul Harrison
There’s definitely a truth in the idea that from darkness comes light. So in terms of your your own health and well-being, what would you describe as being the main benefits that you’ve seen in yourself from that whole?
Amie Dean
Yeah, too. So the main benefits have been, well, absolutely improved relationships. There is a level of less reactivity that happens, you know, through the awakening process and therefore. You just feel more in tune. You feel more connected to others and there’s less of this need to prove yourself on this. Very, you know, Egoic kind of me, I you know, this is all about what I need in the moment kind of thing and. It’s more about. How can we come together? It’s more collaboration with others, so my relationships have improved greatly. Also, my health has improved. Quite honestly, I’ve always struggled, you know with. My health well. At least from my later teen years, all the way through young adulthood, and that’s improved greatly. I was, you know, one point I was unable to eat for a couple weeks due to severe stomach problems, and I was hospitalized and didn’t really know what was going on. There were some physical problems, but also. There was a lot of stress. That I was taking on. And at that point recognized. That it just. It wasn’t serving me, and through my spiritual awakening process, what was really interesting about that is my stomach, my, you know, my whole gut healed itself just through becoming more connected to my emotional world and allowing emotions to be instead of trying to control them or suppressing them. So spiritual awakening has a lot to do with getting in touch with the knowing that we’re just in, you know, in the experience of surrender. And not trying to make something happen. So it’s very closely connected to our emotions and and being willing to be with the heart emotions as they arise.
Paul Harrison
So certainly you’ve had quite a quite a long journey and I’m, I’m sure. You’ve tried all different sorts of like exercises and techniques to help with your own spiritual awakening. What different techniques would you recommend that our listeners use?
Amie Dean
Yeah. And so I have. So through working with clients, I’ll go that route because I’ve discovered that there’s many, many different tools and techniques at work to help you deepen your connection to your higher self and to deepen that. You know ability. To go into a more of an awakened state, but I would say that what has? Helped the most. First and foremost. And mindfulness right and self-awareness. And that’s in one part of the recipe here. But the next part. Is to be. Really gentle with ourselves and to bring compassion to our heart because we we tend to be really hard on ourselves as human beings. And So what I really want to impart is this practice that I’ve taught my clients, and it’s called the pathway back to love and it’s a way of creating self-awareness around the patterns that are coming up for us and then finding this pathway back into our heart where we can be compassionate again with these difficult emotions that we’re experiencing. I’d be happy to share that too here so that we can practice together.
Paul Harrison
Sure. So how how does that work? What what are the exercises in that process specifically?
Amie Dean
Yes, absolutely. So basically what this looks like it’s a couple steps and it’s quite simply the first step is just closing your eyes, placing your hand over your heart and imagining that there is beautiful white light coming in through the top of your. Head so this is. If at any time you feel triggered emotionally or just need a mental emotional reset. During the day, so you imagine this beautiful white light is coming in and filling. Up your body.
Speaker
You’re just.
Amie Dean
Allowing this light to fill you up completely. Really. Feeling that warmth. And just letting any emotions or any other thoughts just allowing them to be here without trying to change anything. And then in the second part of this process, just repeating this saying to yourself. This is only a wave in the ocean of who I am. And as you repeat that to yourself, you’re just noticing what’s arising within how you’re feeling. You’re noticing any changes in your body or in your mind? And of course, sometimes this can intensify our thoughts or emotions, and other times it can help settle and ground. Ourselves a bit more. But then this third step is also just to keep your hand here on your chest. And you’re just turning towards yourself with this intention of compassion. And it might be something simple to myself. So it’s just those three steps. The first one is inviting this beautiful light, which is really just reminding you of the light. Of your higher self and that you’re already that light, no matter what’s happening, no matter what emotion you’re feeling. And that second step is a reminder that the wave of emotion that you’re feeling is temporary. And that it’s. Not who you. Are, but it’s rather just a part of your experience right now. And the third part is to bring in the compassion of your heart and to remind all parts of you inside that you’re not alone and that you are in fact loved and cared for in that moment.
Paul Harrison
Is doing this. Right now feels good. Actually, when I did that, I saw myself stepping outside of myself and seeing this moment is just one moment. And as you said, a much bigger ocean.
Speaker
Yeah. So.
Paul Harrison
It was wonderful. Thank you very. Much for that, Amy. So in the out of all this experience that you’ve had with spiritual awakening, what would you say is one of the real highlight moments of your your experience? One moment that just stands out as being really rewarding.
Amie Dean
Interesting. Out of nowhere I had this shift in consciousness. Out of nowhere. I was not expecting it. I wasn’t looking for it. I was just looking around and all of a sudden got this very clear. Understand. That every single person in this coffee shop was just a reflection of who I was and that they were no. Different and that they’re just walking around, you know, almost in these masked, you know, versions of themselves. But really they’re just like me. And I felt this deep connection. And this deep unity with each human being. Tell me and I started to feel this love bubbling up inside my heart and I couldn’t describe it and felt a little silly at the time because here I am sitting front myself in a coffee shop, and now I’m starting to tear up and I’m looking around to other people. And, you know, at this point. It was just love. Just love was coming through me, and the only thing I could think to do was to allow myself just to cry a little. In that moment, you know, with the pure joy that was coming through me, and I felt so much immense joy. I I didn’t know how to really hold it in that moment. It was a little confusing at first.
Paul Harrison
Magical moment.
Speaker
Yes, absolutely.
