Sesame Street Meditation Is Cutest Thing You’ll Watch today
Definitely, the cutest video you will watch today is the Headspace Sesame Street meditation starring the Cookie Monster and Headspace founder Andy Puddicombe.
Headspace is teaming up with Sesame Street on meditation videos for kids. The videos will include all your favourite characters, like the Cookie Monster Elmo, ad Grover, and will teach kids mindfulness.
The Headspace / Sesame Street meditation videos are being produced as a way to help kids cope with stress and anxiety during this challenging time. In all, there will be a total of six Sesame Street meditation videos that teach the basics of mindfulness. All the videos will be available on Youtube.
The videos are roughly three minutes in length—so quick enough for kids to focus through—and will teach mindfulness and coping with negative emotions. There’s a video in which Elmo can’t sleep because he wants to play, so Andy teaches him a relaxing activity to help him get to sleep.
And there’s the Cookie Monster meditation video, which came out today, Tuesday.
Speaking about the videos, Headspace founder Andy Puddicombe said: “We’re so excited to be partnering with Sesame Street on the new animated shorts. Learning the fundamentals of mindfulness early in life is an incredibly valuable skill to foster, especially at a time like this, when children and families may be experiencing higher levels of stress and anxiety. It not only provides children with a greater sense of calm and clarity, but also helps cultivate the qualities of compassion, creativity, and kindness. In knowing that thoughts and emotions do not have to rule their lives, children can grow up empowered, comfortable with who they are, and free to explore their limitless potential.”
Five Senses Sesame Street Meditation With Cookie Monster
Today, the Sesame Street meditation is a short five-senses meditation starring Cookie Monster and Andy. It teaches kids how to start being mindful by focusing on the five senses, which is one of the popular mindfulness activities.
In the animation, Cookie Monster is having trouble waiting for his cookies because he wants to eat them right away! So Andy teaches Cookie Monster a meditation based on the five senses. Andy ass Cookie Monster to notice something with his sense of sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste.
This is an elementary example of the five senses mindfulness exercise, which you can do anytime with your kids. All you need do is ask your kids to describe what they are noticing with their senses.
I love this video. But I do wish that it left little pauses between each of the five senses so that parents could ask their own kids what they are noticing themselves.
Watch the video with your kids, and then ask them what they can notice with their five senses.
