Let’s get one thing straight right off the bat. This is an article about belief, not about religion. It’s an article about how important belief is in self improvement. Belief can take many forms. We can believe in ourselves, we can believe in god, we can believe in nature or in life itself, we can believe in science, we can believe in anything. What we believe in is irrelevant. All that matters is that we believe in something, for belief itself is where true power lies. The value of believing in yourself, or in some power that gives you confidence and strength, is unquestionable.

If you swallow a sugar pill believing it’s a medicinal tablet that will cure your ills: it will (this is a scientific fact, for more on this look up placebo effect). If you believe that god will save you at your lowest moments, god will. If you believe, as Usain Bolt did, that you will succeed in the biggest challenge in your life, you will. Belief, regardless of where it is placed, is an incredibly powerful force. If you enlist the value of believing in yourself it will take you far.

All athletes know this. Athletes like Usain Bolt use the power of belief to give them the mental edge to win. And it’s not just athletes who can use the power of belief. If you believe you will succeed, you will. In many ways, it really is as simple as that. The complex part is that you have to believe with enough conviction.

Usain Bolt’s belief does take a religious form. He says a prayer and looks up to the heavens before a big race. As I said earlier, this isn’t about religion (Bolt is Christian if you are wondering). This article is about belief. The point is Usain Bolt has some form of unquestionable belief and hits belief gives him the strength to go out there and win.

I hope Usain Bolt can inspire millions around the world to realise the value of believing in yourself. If you belief in yourself; if you belief, without question, that you will achieve the miraculous, you surely will.

Belief is the arrow tip of the soul that sends a man flying down life’s tack to success. Arm your bow with belief. It will carry you far. And people with good beliefs tend to suffer less of the symptoms of low self esteem.
